Caregivers put Saskatchewan on Top

Saskatchewan is a province that cares. According to Statistics Canada, at 34%, the province ranks highest among all provinces to provide long term care for the ill or aging.

According to the report Saskatchewan is followed by Manitoba (33%), Nova Scotia (31%) and Ontario (29%). The national average is 28%.

An aging population means there is a need for homecare services throughout the province now and in the future. Older adults want to stay in their homes, live in their own communities and supporting that is often more cost effective than keeping people in hospital or care facilities.

Caregivers need to understand how to take care of themselves so they can continue to provide care for their loved ones. Caregivers can find out more about what services are available by contacting their local health region.
